Firm History

The Firm, now known as Heronimus, Schmidt & Schroeder, was originally established by Don Kliebenstein, who was an associate with Caroll E. Engelkes. In 1961 Carol Engelkes was appointed a district court judge and Don Kliebenstein became the sole partner and practitioner. T.J. Heronimus joined Don Kliebenstein in 1964 and the firm became Kliebenstein and Heronimus. Kirby D. Schmidt joined the firm in 1973. Three subsequent partners also went on to become judges. Seth R. Schroeder joined the Firm as a Partner in 2013.  This office was the Grundy County Attorney's Office for many years after Don Kliebenstein became County Attorney in 1965.
